Geometry

Dating back to before the time of Euclid, geometry has played an important role in human affairs. Moden curricula include geometry as a core foundational element addressing shapes and reasoning.

Learn what geometry is all about (shapes) and the use of logical thinking to demonstrate truth (proofs). The two-semester, non-A-G class will involve a mix of hands-on and computer activities.

  • Format: Small group – 4 to 8 students

  • Duration: 60 minutes

  • Grades: Middle – High

  • Prerequisites: Students should have 5th grade math as a base

  • Textbook: CK-12 Interactive Geometry (free online)

  • Materials Needed: Students need a computer with web access

  • Recommended Effort: 2.5 – 5 hours per week beyond weekly class
